Why Choose DESC?
In the interest of our students, families, staff, alumni and the community, DESC is currently operating distance learning. While classes are not being held at the college, the Admissions Office remains open remotely at this time and we continue to accept applications.
Due to the COVID-19 closures, all in person tours have been cancelled until further notice. Whilst we are unable to replicate the vibrancy of DESC in any other form, we invite you to view our videos in order to give you a virtual taste of life at DESC. We highly recommend you watch the experiences of our students, parents and alumni, as their stories capture the essence of our DESC community.
If you have any Admissions queries, our Admissions Department can be emailed at firstname.lastname@example.org or alternatively you can call 04 360 4866.
Why choose DESC?
A Parents' Perspective
From FS2 at DESS, to Head Girl at DESC, Saarah Karim spent 14 years in the DESSC family before ultimately moving on to study medicine at the University of Oxford.
The Performing Arts Faculty’s mission is to foster independent thinking in a creative and challenging environment, by providing a diverse curriculum, extra-curricular provision and preparation for higher education within the arts.
Our aim is to instil within every student; confidence, self-discipline and the ability to communicate effectively with others, becoming creative and responsible young adults. We hope you enjoy taking a look at our Performing Arts journey.
My DESSC Journey
Isobel Blanksby is currently in her final term at DESC, after spending 14 years progressing from DESS primary to her current year 13 at DESC.
Izzy will be moving on to study medicine at the University of Manchester in September 2020.
Sports Development Programmes
The College runs unique Sports Development Programmes in rugby, netball, football and swimming. Students selected to be on these Programmes are withdrawn from lessons twice a week (on a rotation basis so that the same lesson is not missed more than once each term) to receive specialist coaching alongside their normal ECA and team coaching.
Players from these Programmes have represented the College to a high level with some moving on to international sport, professional clubs, academies and scholarships. We are developing further exit pathways in conjunction with a range of partners to develop from Year 7 to Year 13 and beyond.
