West Side Story Auditions
The Performing Arts Faculty was a hive of activity this week as the all-important West Side Story auditions took place. Over the course of two days, over 100 students auditioned to be part of this year’s whole College musical.
Auditions began with an intensive dance workshop exploring some of the musical numbers from the show, including the famous ‘America’, that had students performing a range of the quick steps involved in the choreography. The dance talent across Key stages 3, 4 and 5 was exceptional and all students embraced the challenging dance routines with enthusiasm. Students then continued to perform their individual monologue pieces and musical theatre numbers to the audition panel. Students had clearly undertaken detailed preparation in order to best exhibit their talents and the whole of the Performing Arts team were extremely impressed by the passion our students expressed when wanting to be a part of this whole College event.
Due to the overwhelming talent showcased by our students, the Performing Arts team had an extremely difficult time deliberating the lead roles. On Sunday students eagerly awaited the cast announcement and celebrated each other’s success. We would like to thank all of the students who took the time to audition and we look forward to working with you over the coming months on this spectacular musical extravaganza. Look out for future announcements about the productions progress and information on ticket sales.
