GCSE Monologue Exams
The Performing Arts Faculty would like to take the time to congratulate our Year 11 Drama students on their recent monologue performance examination. Students have spent a number of weeks developing their interpretations of character through a range of rehearsal techniques that will contribute to their final GCSE grade. Students performed with the upmost commitment and were not fazed by the tense examination room.
The performance pieces ranged from Caryl Churchill’s ‘Vinegar Tom and Skriker’ to Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brother’s’ and Charlotte Keatley’s ‘My Mother Said I Never Should’ to Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and Chocolate Factory’. All students performed with confidence and an extremely sophisticated understanding of the playwright’s intentions. Students explored with a range of both naturalistic and physical theatre pieces, developing emotional intensity and these were, therefore, thoroughly engaging.
The Year 11 students will complete their final devised performances in February 2020 and we look forward to welcoming an audience of peers and parents to celebrate their success.
