Last Thursday saw the Performing Arts Faculty launch DESC’s first DESCFest! The event provided an opportunity for our student bands, solo singers and dancers to perform for an audience of family and friends within the DESSC community.
On the main stage everyone was treated to a performance from Battle of the Bands winners Sub Royale, followed by our staff band Limbo Makers who had the audience dancing and singing along to their popular song choices. The main stage also welcomed special guest Megatron and visiting band 404 from our neighbours at Wellington Silicon Oasis.
Over on the chill-out stage, the audience were enthralled from the beautiful sounds of Aliyah Khan, Sophie Rabot and Maddi Schneider as they took on numbers by Adele, Sam Smith and Elvis Presley. Between the vocal performances the audience enjoyed the DJ sounds provided by Callum Mulrainey and a number of dance performances from members of our DESC Dance Company. Children were delighted by the range of activities on offer to them; face painting, hair braiding, slime making and even the opportunity of a personal caricature drawn by our new art teacher, Mr Crabb.
Refreshments were on offer throughout the event, with Mrs Cooper’s cakes and OH BRGR being two of the culinary highlights. We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and we look forward to seeing you next year for DESCFest 2! Click here to see the highlights.
